If you read the section in Genesis 22-23 on the Binding of Isaac, Abraham and Isaac go up the mountain but only Abraham descends. A midrash says that Isaac was in Paradice for three years. I learned about this and other human sacrifices in the Bible from "Hebrew Myths - The Book of Genesis" by Robert Graves and Raphael Patai. Section 34 in the book "The Sacrifice of Isaac" pages 173-181 has cross references of the sacrifices in the Bible and comparisons with others from Greek and Roman sources.
